Rescue Corner

Feature Pet in Need

I am writing to you in hopes that you’d be willing to add Animal Rescue R Us to your list of approved rescues. More importantly, in doing so, we are hoping to get a set of wheels donated for Lucky Love. This sweet boy is a 4 1/2 month old, Lab mix. He was found all alone on the side of an Alabama road. He was taken to a shelter, where they determined that he was born paralyzed from the waist down. Since the shelter did not have the funds to care for him, we offered to take him into our rescue. He’s been with us for about a month or so and is thriving. Fortunately, he has regained some feeling in his tail, back legs and paws. However, our vet does not think that he will ever be able to walk on his own. Despite his physical disability, Lucky Love remains one of the most sweet and loving pups that we have ever met. He doesn’t know that he’s “different” from the other pups and he plays and scoots around just fine. We have been researching wheelchairs, but all of the companies that we have contacted have advised us to wait because he is still growing and ordering multiple chairs is a costly expense. While that is true, the scooting motion that he uses to get around has caused some inflammation around his anus and tail. We have done our best to provide him with cushioning and we have experimented with diapers and clothing to protect his skin, but it’s really not working for him. The bottom line is that Lucky needs a set of wheels now and any help that your company can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and we hope to hear from you soon.
